PRe-Academy Soccer Program

FLORIDA FIRE JUNIORS

PRE-ACADEMY

2014 Winter/Spring Season

BOYS & GIRLS AGE 7 to 10 years old
The Florida Fire Juniors is the official youth club affiliate of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.

What is the PRE-ACADEMY Program?
The PRE-ACADEMY is a program administered by Florida Fire Juniors (FFJ) for athletes 7 to 10 year old who have participated in recreational programs and are looking to make the transition to the next level of soccer. The program provides a bridge from recreational soccer to competitive soccer training and US Youth Soccer recommended game play. Players will be exposed to a new and innovative approach to individual player training, giving them the necessary skills to make a transition to the Florida Fire Juniors Academy program.

What kind of commitment is required?
The PRE-ACADEMY is designed for the family/athlete that wants a little more out of their local soccer experience without sacrificing all of their spare time. The PRE-ACADEMY Winter/Spring Season will run from early January 2014 until early May 2014 with the last event hosted in May 2014. All games will be local through the Collier County Parks and Recreation Leagues with minimal travel to SWFL Tournaments and Jamborees against other area programs.

How do I register for the Winter/Spring Season?
There are no tryouts! Online PRE-ACADEMY Registration will open following the two free Winter Clinics to be held on Friday, December 13th and Sunday, December 15th at Veterans Memorial Elementary (VME). Interested players and families will receive a detailed e-mail with all the necessary information to complete their registration process for the Winter/Spring season.

Practice and Play?
All PRE-ACADEMY teams will:
• Train locally 2 days per week 1 with the FFJ Academy Director
• Play in as many as 3 local Spring jamboree and/or tournaments in Southwest Florida
• Join in league play with the Collier County Parks & Recreation League and participate in intra-squad scrimmages with Florida Fire Juniors teams.

Age groups will train in an Academy environment where athletes train as a group, not just with their individual team. All sessions will focus on individual skill development in a fun and positive environment. Additionally, all players will receive training from experienced Florida Fire Juniors professional soccer coaches and trainers.

What is the Fee?
The PRE-ACADEMY fee is only $175 for the four month Winter/Spring Season.

What's included in the fee?
There are no hidden extras. The fee includes a uniform, registration of athletes and coaches with Florida Youth Soccer Association, all event/tournament/league entry fees, referee fees, trainer fees and the Collier County Parks field usage fees.

Florida Fire Juniors Academy Philosophy

The philosophy of the Florida Fire Juniors Academy is to give our young soccer players the best possible development opportunity in preparation for the rest of their soccer experience. During our Academy training program the Academy Director and his coaching staff will focus on enhancing our players footwork, skills, technical ability and their enjoyment the game. Our aim is to make all of our academy players familiarized and comfortable with a ball at their feet to create technically sound and creative soccer players.

Players of academy age are able to absorb positive habits and attitudes which create fantastic platforms for excellent development further down their soccer road. It enables coaches to develop a fun and positive atmosphere to develop creative skillful players. At the Florida Fire Juniors we stress player development vs results. It is important at the academy age that more importance is put on the technical and tactical development of the player rather than win at all cost mentality that can sometimes hamper players development. Success goes hand in hand with player and team development.

“Too often in this country, youth coaches sacrifice learning skills for winning games.” - Former USWNT player Mia Hamm.
