ANNOUNCEMENT: FLORIDA FIRE JUNIORS WELCOME STAFF FOR 2014/15

The Florida Fire Juniors welcome new

Academy Director and Head Coach Steve Sawyer

The Florida Fire Juniors are very proud to announce that Steve Sawyer will be joining the Florida Fire coaching staff this summer.  Steve will become the new Academy Director and Head Coach of both the U15s and U18s girls teams next season.  Steve said "he is looking forward to joining the Fire and using his experience working in the successful Academy Program. I have a few things that I can add to help advance the players technical ability"

He comes with a wealth of soccer experience having worked at Villanova University, Connecticut College, Southeast Soccer Club, West Mount Soccer Club and Express Soccer Club.  He currently holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and USSF National B License pending this year.  He is founder of Sawyer Soccer Development LLC a company that mentors and guides high school players through the college recruitment process. They also proved curriculum based individual and group training and camps. Having been a Director of Camps at Villanova and Connecticut College.

Steve is also a professional MLS match evaluator reporting key competition related information and data from games.  We look forward to welcoming him to Naples and utilizing his vast skills.

The Florida Fire Juniors promote Christopher Cashion to
Assistant DOC of the Girls Program

Christopher Cashion has been promoted to Assistant DOC of the Florida Fire Juniors Girls Program and will work closely with Paul Williams to develop the many talented girls that the club currently trains.  Chris will also continue as Head Coach of the U17 Girls Premier team that has had years of success with the Florida Fire Juniors. On his promotion Chris stated, “I’m very excited to be working closer with Dave Anderson (ADOC), Paul Williams (DOC) and the rest of the coaching staff at Florida Fire Juniors.  I know how much talent Southwest Florida truly has to offer and am fortunate enough to help further develop these players.”

Chris currently holds a D-License and is looking forward to completing his C-License this year.  Before working with the Florida Fire Juniors, Chris previously worked as an assistant coach with Barron Collier High School in 2008 to 2011, also with SWFL United where he was assistant coach with the U16 Boys 2010 National Champions. Chris was part of the original coaching staff of the Chicago Fire Juniors Florida club in 2010 transitioning over with the merge to Florida Fire Juniors.  Chris played locally for many years and teaches with Collier County Public Schools.

The Florida Fire Juniors hire Walter Rodrigues as the new

Head Technical Trainer for the Academy Program

Walter Rodrigues has been hired as the new Head Technical Trainer for the Academy Program. He comes with years of experience working with many current Florida Fire Juniors players. Walter was very instrumental in developing the technical ability of the highly successful Boys U15 premier team who in the past two consecutive years ended up as FYSA State Cup finalist. Walter is passionate about teaching the game of soccer the correct way and the Florida Fire Juniors are thrilled to have him within the Academy program.
