National camp concluded on Sunday at IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton
The USL Super Y-League announced on Wednesday its 2012 Girls Olympic Development Camp Select Teams, honoring the players in the 95/96 and 97/98 age groups that had standout performances at the annual SYL ODP National Camp that was held this past weekend at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida.
The team was selected from a pool of 185 players who attended the camp under the watchful eye of the Super Y-League ODP coaches. Leading the player’s through their paces through the four-day camp was USL National Technical Director Peter Mellor.
“I was very pleased at the overall level of play.” Mellor said. “There was a high level of play in the camp and we received a lot of positive feedback from the college coaches who were in attendance. I know a lot of the girls who attended will be actively recruited.”
Talent from across the United States and Canada dotted the Select teams rosters after four days of training and matches. Chicago Fire Juniors – Florida led the way with five selections in Alex Persiani, Shannon Pearl, Kiera McMeekan, Fatima DiModica and Abigail Kastroll.
Canada was also well represented as selections from Canadians clubs peppered the Select team rosters. Goalkeeper Hope Sabadash of the Toronto Lynx Jrs. and Sydney Braun-McLeod of the Ottawa Fury were two of those Canadian standouts who were examples of the superb talent on display all weekend.

Averaging 700 teams since 2004, the Super Y-League has steered the course for development of elite clubs, players, and coaches. Affiliated with US Soccer, the Super Y-League ODP Program has opened countless doors for players to be identified for U.S. National Team Programs.
The Super Y-League contains the youth academies of Major League Soccer clubs, USL PRO clubs, Premier Development League and W-League clubs.
The league also serves clubs looking to develop the game from the ground up. Top youth academies such as Weston FC, Mass Premier Soccer and TSF Academy have been members of the league for several seasons. USL’s Super Y-League has revolutionized youth player development in North America.
